For two months in 2024, a warm glow settled on The Strand…. our sauna, perched right by the water, doors open to anyone curious enough to step inside. From the first heat of the morning to the steam rolling out under sunset skies, it quickly became part of the daily flow.

Some came straight off the sand, still salty from a swim. Others showed up after a workout, chasing recovery. Some came alone for a bit of quiet, others brought mates, turning sauna sessions into their weekly ritual. Every now and then, someone would wander past, stop for a chat, and end up staying for a session they hadn’t planned.

We teamed up with pilates crews, run clubs, gyms, and CrossFitters, mixing sweat and scenery into something that felt uniquely Townsville. But what stood out most were the first-timers, the ones who showed up unsure, sat quietly in the warmth, and left as sauna lovers, shoulders loose, minds clear.

The sauna became more than just a pop-up. It felt like it belonged… part of morning routines, post-run catch-ups, and lazy evening strolls, all blending into one relaxed, positive community.
